The Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) department in the Division of Student Affairs is looking to hire student office assistants for the fall 2026 semester. ARC is responsible for providing an accessible learning environment by coordinating academic support services for students with disabilities, promoting universal design for learning, and by removing informational, physical, and attitudinal barriers. The primary goal for the ARC student office assistant is to provide excellent customer service to students, parents, staff, faculty, and campus community.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
In addition to completing the PageUp application, applicants must also complete the Supplemental Student Application Application, provide a current resume, and provide their fall 2026 class schedule. Failure to fully complete all application instructions may disqualify applicants.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Accessible Support Services Coordinator, the key responsibility of the Student Office Assistant (Office Assistant) is to provide direct support to ARC students, faculty, staff, campus guests, and ARC staff. Office Assistants will provide support to students applying for ARC services and will support ARC students with navigating their accommodation portal. Office Assistants are also responsible for maintaining the daily cart ride schedule as well as driving students, staff, and faculty to on-campus locations when they are unable to walk due to mobility limitations. Office Assistants may also work with the Testing Coordinator to facilitate exam services, which includes monitoring the department email account for exam and instructor correspondence, processing pre- and post-exams, and proctoring exams while maintaining academic integrity of exams. Other duties include, but are not limited to, clerical and office support to the Accessible Support Services Coordinator and Testing Coordinator, answering phones, taking accurate and detailed messages, scheduling appointments, and other clerical work assigned. Office Assistants will be expected to maintain a strict adherence to confidentiality at all times.
Office Assistants will be expected to work a minimum of six hours per week, must be available to work during fall and spring finals weeks, and will be expected to work during spring commencement ceremonies each May.
This is an in-person position. Telework is not available. Virtual interviews will be conducted toward the end of May 2026.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be detail oriented, have excellent communication and customer service skills, and must be willing to work with faculty, staff, advisors, and students with varying abilities and disabilities.
- Applicants must be reliable, organized, and professional.
- Applicants must maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Respect, flexibility, and a team mentality are a must.
- Applicants must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.
- Preference will be given to applicants with previous office and customer service experience.
- Preference may be given to applicants who are available to work Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
- Preference may be given to applicants who will graduate after December 2027.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Selected applicants must be available to attend mandatory Fall 2026 Employee Orientation and Training as a condition of employment. Employee Orientation and Training will be held in person only, tentatively scheduled for August 20th and 21st, 2026. Time and location TBD. Remote training is not available.
- Applicants must have a valid California driver's license, as well as successful completion and continued compliance with CSU Defensive Driving Course.
Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.
